Class of 2015- It's Senior Picture TIME!!!

It's your Last Year of High School!
YEP....
Class of 2015- It's Senior Picture TIME!!!

Did you get the notice from your high school yet? It's time to get your photos done so you can get your picture in the high school yearbook. Your high school may have selected a place to go in order to get your picture included in the yearbook but you don't have to settle for those studio shots for YOUR senior photos.

Senior photos are a special type of portrait session. We don't believe they should always happen in a stuffy studio with dated backdrops and props. Your photo shouldn't look like everyone else in a cookie cutter, "don't let the door hit you on the way out" sort of manner. We understand that you seniors have unique styles and personalities and we work to capture this in your photos.

Do you think you would get an amazing photo like this in a studio??

Kinoa is going to need a lot of wallets printed for all the girls that will want them.....

How to plan for your Senior Portraits

Senior photos require even more planning than some other types of sessions.
Andrea "Andy" likes to tell the seniors to prepare like they do when writing an essay for school - Think.... Who? What? Why? Where? and How?

The "Who" of course is YOU. But will it just be you... or will you want friends there too? or maybe a sibling?

The "What" is easy- its your senior photos but what do you picture for them? What do you want to wear? Will you want to bright colors? Muted? What style fits you and your style? Casual or more dressy? Romantic or sporty?  What will be the perfect look plus still be comfortable and make you feel confident? What props would you like to have?

The "Why" is easy also- why take them? Because you want to remember these days. These will be your glory days, the ones you want to look back on and share in the future. Why would you want to take photos just like everyone else's? Why wouldn't you want your real personality to shine through in every shot?

"Where?" Where do you want to be? Location, location, location, right? We have several top locations to choose from. C'mon its Hawaii --where isn't there a great beach location, seriously. Where do you picture yourself? There are so many beautiful beaches to choose from but maybe you want to be the main focus. Maybe you want more dramatic shots where the background doesn't steal the show? Or would you like a park? We can do that too.

"How?" How is simple, call us at Hawaiianpix 808-387-0869. Then think about how great and how amazing your senior photos will be! And how you will love to look back at them one day and remember this special time in your life.

Got it? We work with you to get to know you and make you feel comfortable.

The genuine smiles and personalities appear when we are all having fun.

Mike and Kathy's 50th Anniversary Photos

Mike and Kathy celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. They called us to take some photos to celebrate the occasion. We were honored to be the ones to capture all their love in these absolutely gorgeous photos!

The location for their session was on the West Side of Oahu at Lanikuhonua Beach

Mike found a flower for Kathy and lovingly placed it behind her ear

Something old, something new.....

Something old, something new.....

Can you finish this famous phrase?
"Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue"

Traditionally this applies to the bride and describes what she needs to have for the wedding day. We had the honor and pleasure of working with a couple a few weeks ago that brought this phrase to mind. Read more to understand why.....

Casey and Jarred's Wedding Story

This couple fell in love with the islands and each other. They planned a destination wedding for their family and friends on Oahu. With a website, they set up all the details for their guests. Everyone in attendance was in for a great time. They had sailing, snorkeling, canoeing and a reception planned for those that attended the wedding and made a vacation out of the trip at the same time.
Needless to say this wedding was a lot of fun for everyone!

The couple was married at a private estate In Hauula, Hawaii. The accommodations were very nice and the photos reflected the beauty of the wedding and the location......

Casey had a simple dress, perfect for this kind of "relaxed" wedding. She had hand sewed on the floral sequin work on her wedding dress herself to personalize it.

Perfect paradise location by the sea and under the swaying palm trees

At Hawaiianpix we truly appreciate a great story. The wedding ring story is amazing that was told to us by the groom, was truly one for the books. These rings were carved from a single Pacific Blue Whale bone. Seems these bones were from a private collection which started its journey in New York. They were found there during a house cleaning. The bones were sent to the Smithsonian, who had them examined. The bones were identified to be fragments of bone from a Pacific Blue Whale. Because of their origin, the bones were sent to the Bishop Museum in Honolulu, Hawaii. The curator determined that, because the bones were an " incomplete" set that they had no real value turning them over to a local artisan.

Here Casey holds the rings here that were fashioned by this artisan in to wearable wedding bands. When placed side by side and lined up, the rings are a perfect match, having been carved from a single piece of the same bone.
The Blessings and Ceremony Begin....

And just that fast, they are officially husband and wife! Smiles all around
Even the Keiki got into the fun!

Casey and Jarred

This couple was comfortable with each other and playful through out the formal photographs. Joking and having fun in the warm evening sun as we recorded their special moments.
The soft evening light was perfect providing a wonderful background for these two.
Stolen kisses on a crescent beach, just as the sun was setting.

Friends and family helped to decorate this estate, lighting it with a variety of beautifully strung lights between the palms,

...... A perfect backdrop for  a few " stories " at the couples' expense during the toasts

The final entertainment for the evening was a display by a group of fire knife dancers in the lawn fronting the ocean. Set to music, this free flowing performance was a brilliant addition.

And the magical evening continued into the night.

Congratulations to Casey and Jarred!
